ARRL Board Adopts Guidelines and Recommendations on the Appropriate Use of Amateur Radio

On Friday, September 25, the ARRL Board of Directors adopted guidelines on the appropriate use of Amateur Radio on behalf of commercial, non-profit and government entities, as well as recommendations for additional steps to be taken by the ARRL to educate radio amateurs and others on how to prepare and train for public service and emergency communications while complying with the current FCC Rules.

Congratulations to Rick Wade KD0CNC on his appointment as EC for Benton County. This appointment is effective September 15, 2009.

New ASEC

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Randy Rathbun NV0U as Assistant Section Emergency Coordinator (ASEC).

This appointment will be towards the responsibility of Missouri ARES Webmaster. In this capacity Randy will solicit and accept items for inclusion on the Missouri ARES website. I am sure that Randy is looking for input and ideas as to the layout of the new streamlined look and feel of the website.

I am pleased to announce the appointment of John McReynolds KC0NRO as OES representing Franklin County located in District C. He will be assisting the DEC in developing plans on how best to be utilized within the scope of his duties and responsibilities.

Steve brings a wealth of knowledge to this position by ARRL appointments he has held in the past and will be an asset to his EC. This appointment is effective August 1, 2009. Congratulations to Thomas Zeller KB0ORZ on his appointment as EC for Jasper County. This appointment is effective July 17, 2009. Tom had been the AEC before stepping up to the EC postion. I urge all ARES members in Jasper County to give Tom their full support.

Jasper County EC Receives Award of Excellence Upon His Retirement

At the Jasper County ARES meeting an Award of Excellence was presented by District D DEC Ken Baremore to Andy Gabbert KA0UTD upon his retiring as Jasper County EC for the past 18 years. Andy will still remain a viable asset in Jasper county and I am sure that his wealth of knowledge and experience will be called upon in the future. Please share in your congratulations to Andy for his outstanding service to his community.
